Rongo


Perched atop a hill at an elevation of 4500ft near Bhutan boarder Rongo or Rongu served as a Headquarter of Cinchona Plantation under Kalimpong sub-division. A small isolated village having a local bazaar, a post office and few houses Rongo used to be an important place for growing medicinal plants. Rongo offers beautiful views of surrounding hills, forests and Jaldhaka river valley.

Rongo can be reached from Siliguri through Dooars via Chalsa - Khunia More - Gairibas towards Bindu. From Gairibas a rough motorable road branches off towards left to Rongo, which is 7 kms.
