Bindu


A small picturesque hill village on the Indo-Bhutan border Bindu is a little known tourist destination in lower Kalimpong foothills. The journey to Bindu via Chalsa-Khunia-Jhalong in a fascinating one as the road passes through the beautiful teagardens, high forests, river valleys and small quiet villages. The serene landscape of Bindu valley with silvery Jaldhaka stream flowing through it makes the place an attractive offbeat destination in North Bengal. The babbling Jaldhaka stream cutting across the deep gorge is a nice place for spending leisure hours.
Bindu offers several short treks in the lower Kalimpong hills. The most popular one starts from Todey to Tangta and leads towards Nerora Valley National Park.
Bindu can be reached from Siliguri by a 3 hrs journey through Dooars plains. Total distance from Siliguri to Bindu is 110kms. There is a small market in Bindu with local character.
The Sivaji Tourist Inn provides a nice comfortable accommodation for the tourists.

Godak Village: Half an hour walk from Bindu, a small scenic village famous for it cardamom plantation.
Todey and Tangata Village: A village of Tamang Community, known for its serene landscape and orange and cardamom plantation.
Paren: A small village on the way to Todey from Bindu offers great panoramic view of the surroundings.
Jhalong and Jaldhaka: A popular tourist destination just 12 kms ahead of Bindu renowned for its Hydroelectric Project. There is a beautiful forest bungalow in Jhalong beside the Jaldhaka River.
